How they met
Cassee and Nate met in October of 2015 through work where they are mental health physicians. Nate noticed this "gorgeous woman" conducting a group seminar at the hospital" and commented to his family later that day, "I think I saw my future wife today". They thought he was crazy. The next day, he looked for her at the hospital by pretending he had patients to see in her unit. When he saw her, he formally introduced myself and was was greeted with the "most beautiful smile he had ever seen". "I instantly fell in love"! Their initial meeting was relatively innocuous and but Nate was already devising a plan for the second interaction.
Since they were work colleagues, Nate had her work phone number and toyed with the idea of calling directly, but did not want to come across as "unprofessional" so he had went old school on her and asked his friend to call and feel her out to see if she would care if he called. She did not have any objections. They spoke that night for hours and have been inseparable for hours.
The First Date
They initially met for lunch at Sydney's in Uptown Charlotte for their first date. "The conversation flowed so easily" commented Cass that it felt like they had known each other forever. The lunch date segued into dinner together that same night, and both knew that they were already starting to fall for each other.
How he proposed (in her words)
They had dinner at Capital Grille, the restaurant that we had our first date. Nate had gorgeous flowers delivered to the restaurant prior to our arrival. After dinner, they proceeded outside where he stated "Come on baby, we have people waiting on us". I thought "What in the world is he talking about?". He took my hand and guided me to the corner where a beautiful horse and carriage awaited. As we rode throughout uptown Charlotte, the driver turned to us and informed us that the horse needed to take break. We were dropped off at the park, where we enjoyed the beautiful weather and strolled through the park. Nathan appeared to be looking all around the park. I politely pointed to the Horse and Carriage. As I proceeded back to the carriage, he took my hand and dropped down on one knee and stated "Cassee, I love you with all of my heart, Will you marry me?" Stunned for several seconds before I halted out a "Yes!". A couple that was sitting on the bench realized that a proposal was taking place and became an instant paparazzi!. After the proposal, the photographer that Nathan hired appeared and captured the remaining moments filled with excitement and joy!
For their engagement photography we used Nate's brand new Maserati on one of our favorite rooftops overlooking Charlotte Uptown. The heat of the day was not my ideal lighting environment, but both wanted to photograph in sunlight so we made it work.
