A lot of times, maternity sessions are all about the mother-to-be and her adorable belly. But it can be fun—and a bonding experience—to include
your significant other in the photoshoot so he or she can get in on the action. But how do you include your loved one without the shoot seeming awkward
or (even worse) cheesy?
1. Stick with one of the classics.
There’s one classic maternity session pose that never goes out of style—and it can be one of the most touching shots to transpire during the photoshoot.
Yes, I’m talking about the mom’s significant other puckering up and showing some love to that belly! It might feel goofy at first, and if it does,
go with it! (Just think how cute an image of a husband nuzzling his wife’s belly while laughing would be.)
2. Treat the shoot as a family portrait session.
If this baby isn’t your first child, involve all of the kids and make the photoshoot about the entire family—belly and all. There’s almost nothing
as gorgeous as a loving family emanating that love for the camera to capture. And with one of the family members expecting a baby, the mom-to-be’s
glowing demeanor is sure to rub off on the rest of the family.
3. Don’t make it all about the belly.
As I’ve already mentioned, it’s common for maternity photoshoots to be all about the mom-to-be’s belly—and that’s perfectly fine! But when you’re
including your significant other, one way to stay away from unnatural posed shots is to keep the focus on the two of you instead of just on the belly.
Focus on your love, and including the soon-to-be bundle of joy will come naturally.
Pregnancy is a special occasion, and a maternity shoot is a fantastic way to celebrate that time. Make it even more special by including your significant other!
