Have the Luck of the Irish for Your Wedding Proposal

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re Irish, it means more than just drinking green beer and wearing shamrock-shaped sunglasses. It’s a celebration of your heritage, which makes it the perfect time to propose to your significant other.

Give your wedding proposal an Irish flair with the following tips.

1. Go for a Claddagh Engagement Ring

The Claddagh ring is a traditional symbol of loyalty, love, and friendship. There are tons of designs to choose from, so don’t feel as though your options will be limited. And think of how awesome that engagement ring will look in your Charlotte engagement photoshoot after the proposal is over!

2. Say an Irish Blessing

Why not go ahead and say a quick blessing over your engagement ring prior to proposing? Here’s a great one: “May the blessing of light be on you—light without and light within. May the blessed sunlight shine on you and warm your heart till it glows like a great peat fire.”

3. Choose Somewhere Green

You don’t have to go over the top and dress up as a leprechaun to execute the ideal St. Patrick’s Day wedding proposal. In fact, you could make it super subtle by selecting a locale with tons of natural greenery. Imagine how your engagement photoshoot would look in the same location!

4. Cheers After They Say Yes

Grab your favorite Irish whiskey or beer (or something nonalcoholic if you don’t imbibe) and say an Irish toast after your loved one says yes to your wedding proposal. Don’t know of any Irish toasts? Here’s one: “I drink to your health when I'm with you, I drink to your health when I'm alone, I drink to your health so often, I'm starting to worry about my own!”

5. Wear Green

After your significant other says yes, celebrate your Irish-themed proposal with an Irish-themed Charlotte engagement photoshoot. Wear splashes of green and show off your Irish roots.

Irish Wedding Proposals

Any of these five tips will surely help your wedding proposal have a twinge of undeniable Irish charm. After the proposal has been accepted and the wedding plans are on, be sure to set aside some time for your Charlotte engagement photoshoot—these are memories you’ll want to remember!
