Meet Lauren and Alex
I originally met Lauren four years ago, when I photographed her brother Chaz [and Jessica] wedding at the Big Chill in Charlotte NC. Fast forward four years and I get the honor to photograph this family
again. As you will read more about them below, Lauren and Alex have known each other for most of their lives and their story breathes love and
Lauren held this dainty little marigold bouquet and blew the seedlings into the wind, just like we all did as children
Lauren originally hails from Broken Arrow, OK and Alex is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. For their engagement photography session, we opted for Carrigan Farms in Mooresville, NC.
Carrigan Farms is a 5th generation, family owned, farm. Carrigan Farms specializes in growing quality fruits and vegetables, educational school tours and field trips, weddings, swim parties, and other special events. The Carrigans settled in the Mooresville area in the 1750’s with ancestors buried at local Coddle Creek ARP church.
HOW THEY MET
Their families grew up together in the Charlotte area. They met at church and spent a lot of time around each other during the holidays as a family.
Our trip to Rehoboth Beach is what I count as our first real date. We enjoyed the eating on the boardwalk, grabbing some ice cream, walking on the beach and pretending to put Lauren in the cold ocean waves. This is where I made it known that I was interested in Lauren by writing “Alex Loves Lauren” in the sand.
I asked Alex to whisper in Lauren's ear, clearly whatever he said made her smile :)
Lauren – growing up I thought Alex was friendly…he was like a cousin to me. Once we got older the first thing I noticed was his compassion and love
for others. He was always a great friend to me as well. Our friendship blossomed from there and I’m grateful for it!
Alex - My first impressions of Lauren was that she was pretty, shy, and funny. I enjoyed watching her laugh, seeing her smile, and spending quality time with family. We always enjoyed joking with each other. As we got older, my impressions were that she was driven, focused, and full of life. I felt like we shared some common interests in traveling/living abroad and owning or own businesses. She was mature, stylish, and enjoyed having a good time!
Carrigan Farms offers stunning open fields, vistas and an enormous lake/quarry that shimmers golden blue in the sun.
AT WHAT POINT SPEND REST OF LIVES TOGETHER:
Lauren – I knew before we started dating. It just clicked for me! I knew that I couldn’t (and didn’t want to) live without him.
Alex - When I realized that she had a deep level of respect and confidence in me as man. When it was more and more difficult to leave after enjoying each other’s company and time together during our long distance relationship. Understanding she was fully commitment to our relationship, desired to start a family together, and she has always stayed true to us. That has meant the most to me in spending my life together with someone else.
The marriage proposal:
Alex proposed on the beach at sunset in beautiful Turks & Caicos Islands. We photographed their wedding last month and I cannot wait to showcase these amazing wedding photographs at the stunning Raffaldini Vineyards north of Statesville, NC.
