Stephanie and Chris met back in 2008- briefly at what they claim is the worst bowling alley in the world. After connecting on Facebook, no less, fate brought them together a few months later on New Years Eve in Charlotte. After a few years of long distance between Raleigh and Winston Salem they were finally together and made their home here in Charlotte.
Their wedding was held on the most perfect day in March. Literally, the most perfect day and the sun made the most beautiful glow around them as it started to set during their bride and groom photos at the Ballantyne Country Club. It was so sweet to catch these two repeating to to each other throughout the day that they were the luckiest people in the world.
Deevo likes to follow the bride around on the wedding day, his philosophy is to be a "fly on the wall" and organically capture what naturally happens. In this case Stephanie was handed a note while she was with her bridesmaids getting ready, she stole away for a moment and of course Deevo followed her. When this sequence was over, Katie O'Neil (Makeup Your Face) had to redo her makeup.
The whole day was particularly emotional, but incredibly exciting at the same time. Stephanie did a first look with her father, who was nearly at a loss for words, and his expression was one of the best we've captured so far. But when the couple saw each other for the first time, that was something else. See, the Ballantyne Country Club had their ceremony site set up so you can see the bride from a long ways off, building anticipation for the couple as they get closer. As Stephanie walked down the aisle towards Chris, there were already several tears streaming down cheeks. But, once together there were a lot of laughs and smiles.
We typically do all bride and groom photos right after the ceremony. Guests go in and have their first drink while we swiftly run off with the bride and groom to catch some great shots at their venue away from their guests. At this site, we had the opportunity to grab a few shots in the very chairs Stephanie and Chris were watched from and gave them a few moments to catch their breath... well, sort of.
The reception for Stephanie and Chris was superb. They had the band Timeless play- a whole set up with brass and drums that play classic everything (also they have a fabulous light set up which gave us some really great colored bokeh). The photo above was of Stephanie and Chris's first dance. One of the great things about shooting Stephanie and Chris is that they were so relaxed. They joked with each other throughout the bride and groom shots and they both have fabulous smiles. We love the idea Chris brought to us (which most definitely surprised Stephanie) for the photo below. It's truly one of the biggest rewards of the job when clients transition into being friends.
