It’s safe to say that we have been chomping at the BIT to get these photos posted on our blog and website! Nada and Ahmad just came in last night to our studio to view their official wedding slideshow(yay for new studio spaces! We FINALLY can hold formal presentations of our wedding collections again), which means that today they can finally be shown off to the world!
Nada and Ahmad’s wedding was one of the most spectacular events we have photographed to date. If you remember, we photographed their engagement session at the NC Transportation Museum here, and had such an awesome time with them that we had been itching to get to their wedding almost as much as they had been! But truly, we were not prepared for how incredibly this day was going to unfold.
Nada and Ahmad had their wedding planned out to perfection. In their Muslim culture, the ceremonies are quite different from your typical Charlottean wedding,
which we couldn’t WAIT to witness. Both sets of families hold what is called a Zaffe, where everyone gathers at their homes to chant and hold a small
celebration. Then both families merge for yet another Zaffe. Nada and Ahmad had Faris El-Layl Dabke join them for the day, to conduct all the Zaffes and provide dancing and entertainment
as well. This was the absolute coolest thing – the drumming and chanting reverberated throughout their neighborhoods, and you could barely pull a car
through the streets there were so many family members gathered to witness the celebration! Once at the Hilton Center City where the reception was held, the drumming and Zaffe were taken to a whole other level because of
the incredible acoustics in the lobby.
Nada entered into her reception on a traditional gold swan palanquin. The reception hall at the Hilton Center City was dazzling, complete with a throne for the bride and groom, draped in tulle, silk and strands of crystals. All the décor and floral arrangements were planned and provided by Rahma Zaghari of Carolina Wedding Belle.
One thing we noticed and LOVED about this wedding was that the dancing just did not cease! Nasser Deeb’s music kept everyone on the dance floor the entire evening – even Nada’s beautiful 100-year-old grandmother! I am so in love with this woman’s face. She even took part in the sword dancing, which is another Middle Eastern tradition. One sword was wrapped in the colors of the Palestinian flag. Details like these are what made this event more and more fascinating at every turn.
We captured some amazing photos of their customary chair dances and the incomparable Faris El-Layl Dabke in traditional Middle Eastern attire chanting and performing traditional group
dances as well. They didn't. Stop. Dancing! It was just incredible.
Still dancing...and dancing...
Nada even snagged a drum at one point! I just adore this photo.
And more swords! Deevo so badly wanted to take one home with him but I wouldn't let him. Here are our bride and groom, slicing their stunning cake by WOW Factor Cakes with you guessed it...a sword!
Another detail of the wedding that was unique was the presenting of the gold by family and friends of the bride and groom. Each person presents a piece
or two to the couple as a wedding gift. This image of Nada and Ahmad's golden gifts is so stunning to me! Tiny little Nada was weighted down by the
end with some amazing treasures.
Check out how the light filters through Nada's gorgeous veil in this image. Her beautiful gown and veil were custom made with thousands of crystals by
the incomparable Pixton Couture Bridal. She was looking flawless
also thanks to hairstylist Abeer Nouman and our dear Meliha Custovic of The Beauty Fairy. Her
makeup did not fade or melt at all; By the end of the night, Nada was as impeccable as she was when we began their bride and groom session at high
noon in 95 degree weather!
You know I have to include a shoe shot. These are no ordinary bridal shoes. They are THE Jimmy Choo Cinderella slipper, and they deserved a photo session all to themselves. A moment of silence, please, for this dazzling work of art. I need to go collect myself now.
Nada and Ahmad,we are more than humbled by the fact that we have been able to document this amazing event for you. The sheer life, warmth, and love of your family and friends at this beautiful celebration genuinely touched us to say the very least. We have high hopes that we will get to capture more moments for you and your family in the future.
Thank you to all the incredible vendors who made this event possible! We thoroughly enjoyed working with each and every one of you.
