5 Ways to Spice Up Your Wedding Reception

Everyone wants their wedding to be one for the record books, one the family and friends will be raving about for months.  There are so many creative and original ways to spice up your wedding reception so that everyone has a blast, even the kiddos!  With our weather here in Charlotte, NC turning warmer its the perfect time for outdoor weddings, which opens the door for even more fun ways to make sure you and your guests have a blast.  We are sharing Fusion's top 5 Ways To Spice Up Your Wedding Reception to help make your wedding the talked about event of the year.

Yard Games

Yard games are incredibly popular right now and it is easy to see why.  They take your wedding from an spectator sport to one where the guests become willing participants.  Everyone has more fun when they get to be in on the action.  And you wont be limited by the ideas out there because there are a ton.

Here are our favorites:

  1. The ever so popular Cornhole - You know everyone LOVES this game. You could even have a tournament and announce a Wedding Champion! The beautiful personalized boards seen below are from Cornhole Outfitters.  They have many to choose from.
  2. Giant Jenga - This one is a super easy DIY and pretty inexpensive (always a plus!).
  3.  Koob - a little known Viking game that is seriously a lot of fun and is also an incredibly easy DIY!

Bounce House

Yes, that's what we said  -  a Bounce House!  These may be traditionally labeled for the kids, but -  Hey, Big Kids have to have fun too!  Definitely a great way to get everyone out of their seats and having fun.  And of course it is a great distraction for the kiddos too.

Karaoke

Talk about a great way to get the party warmed up!  Karaoke is a perfect way to keep the guests entertained during cocktail hour should the drinks and appetizers not do the job.  After all of the reception must dos are completed you can bring the machine back out and watch everyone make fools of themselves sing their hearts out. It may be a good idea to have a few friends that double as vocalist to sing pre-selected songs of your choice.  We also suggest limiting the song choices to those that you actually want to hear.  Most importantly specify in your wedding timeline when you want the karaoke machine available.  It is a great entertainment device, but it shouldn't dominate your big day.

Rock Band

This follows along exactly with our suggestions for Karaoke.  Certainly great entertainment for all the guests, whether they are participating or just spectators.  As we said above make sure you limit the time that the game is available.  Nothing should over shadow you on your wedding day!

Kids Table and/or Nanny

While you may think of this one as being solely for the kids, it is definitely a game changer for those that brought children with them. The idea is to have a table dedicated to entertaining kids.  Pinterest has a enormous list of great ideas and we have consolidated it down so you can find our favorites all in one spot on Fusion's Cutie Pie Kids Pinterst Board. The ideas range from lego kits, to scavenger hunts, to wedding coloring books and more.  If you really want to have the wedding of the century all you have to do is have a kids table that is armed with a hired babysitter.  This would be a dream come true for all parents out there. "WHAT!?! A free babysitter at the event!?" This would solidify your wedding in the Best Wedding Ever category for sure.

Kids Table: 5 ways to spice up your wedding reception

This list does not exhaust the great ideas out there, but in our opinion these are most certainly the top 5 Ways To Spice Up Your Wedding Reception.  Have you featured any of the above at your wedding or have other fun suggestions? We would love to hear how it went; just comment and let us know.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Fusion Photography for our wedding, and were so thrilled to have worked with Deevo and his team. He lent a hand to almost every aspect for our wedding, even borrowing a leaf blower to ensure we had a clean outdoor pavilion.
